What is IFMC Community Initiative?

IFMC Community Initiative is the charitable giving arm of the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care (IFMC). It is a separate legal entity formed for the purpose of distributing grants and charitable gifts to nonprofit organizations. It is governed by a Board of Directors made up of a subset of the IFMC Board of Directors.

Mission

To initiate and support, through research and programs, innovative and farsighted health-related projects aimed at improving the health, social well-being and educational attainment of society, where such needs are expressed.

Vision

The organizations and citizens of Iowa and Illinois will be empowered to improve their individual and overall community health.

Values

We believe that:

  • Health promotion provides opportunities for the development of community and individuals.
  • Many factors affect health, from educational to health services.
  • Every person deserves access to health education and services.
  • Maintaining the health of our communities is the responsibility of all citizens.

IFMC Community Initiative seeks to support projects and programs focused on but not restricted to:

  • Education – The IFMC Community Initiative supports efforts that ensure students access to a quality education. Preference is given to institutions of higher education, particularly in the field of health care.
  • Health – The IFMC Community Initiative is committed to supporting programs that seek to improve and assure access to quality health care. 
  • Community – The IFMC Community Initiative is committed to improving communities where we live or do business through civic, cultural, and environmental programs that strengthen our communities.
