Frequently Asked Questions

Why did the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care establish the IFMC Community Initiative?

Supporting the communities where we live and do business is our way of life. In fact, it’s one of our core values. The establishment of IFMC Community Initiative was a logical extension of charitable work IFMC was already doing, allowing us to continue this work on a more formal level – ultimately helping those in need, strengthening our reputation as a good corporate citizen, and improving the quality of life.

Where does the money for the grantmaking program come from?

The IFMC Community Initiative grants program is currently funded through an annual contribution from IFMC.

How often does IFMC Community Initiative distribute grants?

IFMC Community Initiative has at least one grant cycle each year.

How are programs or projects selected for grants?

Projects are selected based on:

  • Meeting the objectives of the IFMC Community Initiative
  • Meeting a clear, identifiable need
  • Creativity
  • Operational strength of the applicant organization, including project leadership
  • Ranking when compared with other applications received during the funding cycle

Because funds are limited, we look for programs and projects where moderate funding can bring significant results.
